When can you enroll in Medicare?
When you turn 65, you have a seven-month window to sign up for Medicare, called your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP). It starts three months before you turn 65 and ends three months after your birthday.
It’s best to sign up early. If you enroll during the first three months of your IEP, your coverage will start on your 65th birthday. Now that’s peace of mind.
What are the four “Parts” of Medicare?
- Part A – Hospital Insurance
Covers hospital stays, skilled nursing, and home healthcare - Part B – Medical Insurance
Covers doctors’ costs and home healthcare - Part D – Prescription Drug Coverage
Can be added to Original Medicare or may be included with a Medicare Advantage Plan - Part C – Medicare Advantage
All-in-one plan that combines Parts A, B, and D, plus extras like dental, vision, and hearing
