Understanding your eligibility for a Medicare Advantage plan is the first step to accessing comprehensive healthcare coverage from KelseyCare Advantage. Here’s what you need to know to determine if you qualify:

Enrollment in Medicare Part A and Part B

To join a KelseyCare Advantage plan, you must be enrolled in both:

• Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance)
• Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance)

If you’re not yet enrolled, contact Social Security to apply for Medicare benefits.

Live Within the KelseyCare Advantage Service Area

Our plans are available to individuals who reside in specific counties in Texas. Make sure your primary address falls within our service area to qualify.

When You Can Enroll

Enrollment in a Medicare Advantage plan is limited to certain periods:

• Initial Enrollment Period (IEP): Begins three months before the month you turn 65, includes your birthday month, and ends three months after.
• Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): October 15 – December 7, when all Medicare beneficiaries can enroll or make changes to their plans.
• General Enrollment Period (GEP): The GEP is an opportunity for people who didn't sign up for Medicare when they were first eligible. The GEP is a 3-month period that takes place from January 1 through March 31 of each year. Part B and premium Part A coverage will begin the month after a person enrolls during the GEP.
• Special Enrollment Periods (SEP): Triggered by life events such as moving out of the service area, losing other health coverage, or qualifying for Medicaid.

Already Enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan?

If you’re currently enrolled in another Medicare Advantage plan, you can switch to KelseyCare Advantage during the AEP or, in some cases, during a Special Enrollment Period.
